GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS WHEN THEY GET THINGS WRONG
Hi Everyone. Several things have happened over the last couple of weeks which have made me question. Just how much can we trust Government, Land Registry etc offices to get things right when they take such a high handed attitude when we the General Public do things right but some how we end up paying the penalty for their mistakes. There have been two examples of this
[1] HMRC [the tax dept/ Chacellor] When a persons Husband dies & there is a smaller private pension involve which he paid in for yrs [well over20yrs]. When he dies, his widow connected HMRC sent all the details they requested within 5days, she had a letter back saying everything was fine & there was nothing else she should do. Why then has it taken 2yrs for HMRC to send two letters one over 12mths ago & another only a few mths ago demanding payment over £100 on both occassions & if it was not paid by a certain date their would be apenalty which meant for the next 12mths the widow would get only half of the pension. The fault was the incompentance of the dept in taking 2yrs to get their act together. Wich leads onto another ? Is the Govert really been upfront & honest with the public in encouraging people to take out private pensions when in actual fact when you retire that pension is taxed & added to the state pension & depending onthe tax allowance at the time, you could be paying half your pension in tax, it benefits the Govt but it does not benefit you, as you have already paid tax on that money when you were working & putting it into a pension fund. The Govt may say you get tax relief but they don't tell you how much & the high chance you will also pay tax on that pension when you do retire & if you are married and your husband dies if he paid into a private pension plan then that will be taxed also. It basically means you are been taxed twice.
[2]Their maybe the situation when you buy ahouse that the mineral rights under the property may be owned by a third party such as the Duchey of Lancaster in which case the payment goes to the third party for the mineral rights. This does not affect your rights and no-one can come onto your land. This has all come to light over the very keen attitude of the Govt to get the general public on their side & to support fracting [a way of getting gas from underground] Several household have received such letters, the letter does not mention fracting, insted it mention mineral rights, which come under manorial rights as in [Lord of the Mannor] This is a connection to incompetance of the Land Registry &/or Duchy of Lancaster incompetance & totally lack of thought & consideration for people's feelings, some people have received letters from these organisations with a deceased name on the letter, not only that but actually sent to the dead person in a seperate identical letter, WHAT A TOTALLY WASTE OF MONEY FOR A START, SENDING LETTERS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE DEAD, NOT TO MENTION THE DISTRESS and this has happened yrs after the person died. No wonder the UK is in the state it is, when civil servants etc can not be bothered to check who is alive and who is dead. Does no one CARE anymore. This disgraceful couldn't care less attitude should not happen. Govt should remember who votes for them.
I would be intrested to know just how wide spread these two situations are. You can contact me at veritycaldwell18@gmail or on my G+page
